Under the patronage of the President of University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Aqeel Fadhil Al-Dahan, and supervised by the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Hisham Kadhum Hashim—and in collaboration with the "IT" volunteer team—the College has launched a tree-planting campaign within its gardens. This initiative is part of broader efforts to expand green spaces and enhance the environmental and aesthetic quality of the university campus.

The campaign aims to promote a culture of tree-planting and environmental stewardship, while raising awareness about the importance of increasing green cover. Such efforts contribute to improving air quality and fostering a more aesthetic and healthy atmosphere within the university environment. Furthermore, the initiative seeks to instill a spirit of volunteerism and cooperation among the College’s staff and students.

This project is one of several activities through which the College strives to create a sustainable, eco-friendly campus environment, in alignment with broader goals for achieving sustainable development.
