As part of the "1000 Programmers and Cybersecurity Experts" initiative, the College of Computer Science and Information Technology welcomed a delegation from the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein to contribute its expertise and advanced personnel.

The Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Hisham Kadhum Hashim, received a delegation from the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, including prof. Hussam Muhammad Abdul-Ali and prof. Nasr Yahya Salman, representatives of the Holy Shrine and coordinators of the initiative in Basra Governorate. The meeting focused on exploring avenues for joint coordination within the "1000 Leading Programmers" initiative, sponsored by the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, which aims to cultivate a generation of tech-savvy children aged 9 to 14.

This visit aimed to foster cooperation between the academic institution and leading technological projects. The discussion centered on mechanisms to support this national project with the academic expertise and advanced personnel the college possesses in the fields of programming, software development, information security, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. During the meeting, the two sides discussed developing joint action plans to leverage scientific expertise and guide young talent towards specialized technological fields. This aligns with the rapid advancements in the information technology sector and addresses the critical need to protect the digital space and build robust software systems.

In accordance with the directives of the University President, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the university's colleges across all disciplines, particularly scientific and research fields, and with various government sectors to serve the community, the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at University of Basra, Prof.Dr. Hisham Kadhum Hashim, affirmed the College's full readiness to provide all necessary technical and scientific support and dedicate its resources to the success of this project. He also commended the significant efforts of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein in adopting programs that advance the technological landscape in the country and cultivate a generation of tech-savvy individuals capable of confronting contemporary cybersecurity challenges.
