The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture titled Developing YOLOv8 for Accurate Object Detection in Underwater Environments.
The lecture aimed to improve underwater object detection using the YOLOv8 model.
The presentation began by highlighting the research problem related to visual challenges in underwater environments. The lecture, presented by Shaima Khader Hussein, a graduate student in the Department of Computer Science, included a review of practical experiments on two different datasets and an explanation of how ASPP integration sites affected the model's performance. Finally, it focused on the most prominent results and discussions that demonstrated the superiority of the proposed models in improving accuracy while maintaining inference speed. It concluded with a summary and research contributions.
